Meet the Artist

I'm Kelly! I'm a designer and illustrator from a small town in northern Illinois. I've been drawn (pun intended) into the world of animation and illustration since I was thirteen. My lighthearted, whimsical style stems from my desire to encourage others and make people smile. My love of travel and culture has taken me to five different continents. I have a passion for stargazing, aviation, and ocean life. You can usually find me embarking on a random adventure.

Behind the Art

I seek to showcase the world’s hidden intricacies through color, motion, and technology. As a child, an art judge praised me as a color maven for a butterfly creation in oil pastel. Color captivates my soul. By being a digital artist, I have the world of color at my fingertips. I want to revel in the pigments as well as watch how they interact and complement one another. Being able to manipulate the hues to evoke emotion will always enthrall me. From the ocean to outer space there is always something full of color to explore.

Not only do I love to play with color but capturing the illusion of motion in an illustration fascinates me. I create the sense of existing through delightfully drifting objects. I find pleasure in capturing everyday objects in unexpected ways. I enjoy taking common images and making them lighthearted and playfully surreal. It’s a way to connect the fine arts to everyday life. One must find the beautiful in the ordinary to appreciate life.

Being born in the last year of the millennium created a connection to being the last of the 90’s kids. I want to capture the creativity of early analog tech before the world transitioned fully to digital to highlight the innovations of old tech. I seek to blend the world of the 90’s with that of digital artwork and modern technology. Just as VHS tapes and cassettes had to be rewound, we need to rewind and look back to appreciate how far technology has come. I love being part of the digital age, yet I feel connected to retro items through nostalgia. By experiencing color, motion, and technology we can appreciate and showcase the subtle complexities of our world.
